Celebrating the OG gladiators of our sport, Open Faces Win Races pays respects to the riders who rocked the open face helmet.

Nothing gives one the incentive to get out front than an exposed face. A look now lionized by those pining after the ‘good ole days’, the open face helmet allowed riders to look over at their competition on the starting line and snarl or smile before kicking their asses.

Like drum brakes and dual shock suspension, open faces are a thing of the past, a bench racing topic typically preceded by the words “Remember when…”

Let’s honor the warriors, the riders who sacrificed their teeth and jawbones but inspired us impressionable kids to get behind the handlebars, too.
